Israel releases photos and identities of two embassy employees killed in US

The Israeli Foreign Ministry today released photos and names of two employees of the Israeli embassy in the US who were shot dead in a tragic incident that occurred yesterday evening in Washington, D.C. The victims are Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, who according to Israeli authorities were a couple and worked in the diplomatic service.

The official statement from the ministry states that the couple was part of a diplomatic event at the Jewish Museum in the American capital, and were shot dead as they were leaving the event. Their photos have been distributed by official Israeli institutions as a mark of respect and remembrance for their lives and service.

According to the Israeli ambassador to the US, Yaron had bought a wedding ring this week and planned to propose to Sarah in Jerusalem next week.

In honor of the victims, all Israeli embassies around the world have lowered their flags to half-mast.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar stated that the murder is a consequence of the anti-Semitic incitement that, according to him, has spread since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. He described the event as "a tragedy that reflects the real danger faced by Jewish citizens and Israeli representatives in the world."

Investigations into the incident are ongoing by American authorities, while the motives still remain unclear.
