War in Ukraine: Russia claims to have intercepted 38 Ukrainian drones attacking

A series of explosions have rocked Crimea, following a reported Ukrainian drone strike on the peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.

Video posted online shows a suspected explosion near a fuel depot in the southeastern city of Feodosiya.

Russian officials said 38 drones had been shot down. The Kerch bridge connecting Crimea with Russia was temporarily closed.

The attack comes as Ukraine continues to ask allies to increase arms supplies.

Russian troops have recently made gains in Ukraine as Kiev struggles to maintain its forces with Western-made weapons. Moscow seized control last month of the key eastern town of Avdiivka.

However, according to British military intelligence, this has come at a great cost. In his latest update, he said February had been the deadliest for Russians since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, with 983 killed and wounded per day.
