Starting today, a "super green pass" comes into use in Italy. The certificate aims to promote vaccination by restricting unvaccinated persons, restricting services.

According to foreign media , the "super green pass" can be used by all citizens who have recovered from Covid-19 and not who have a negative test. The certificate will be required to be used at sporting events, theaters, concerts, restaurants and some other services.

"Super green pass" is needed in workplaces and public transport, as well as for the first time will need to enter hotels.

The measures, which Prime Minister Mario Draghi says are necessary to "maintain normalcy", will be in force at least until January 15, with the possibility of extending them further into 2022.

In most cases, the rules have to be tightened if a region is declared an "orange" area with the highest risk. In this situation, many premises and businesses that would have previously been closed under the orange zone restrictions may remain open but will require the ‘super’ green permit.

Health care workers in Italy already have to be vaccinated under a law passed in April, but from 15 December the obligation will extend to school staff, police and the military.
