Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that the advanced "Oreshnik" system could be deployed in Belarus in the second half of 2025. Putin's statement came after a meeting of the Supreme State Council, where an agreement on security guarantees between the two countries was signed.
"The deployment of systems such as 'Oreshnik' in Belarus is possible, given the agreement on the use of all available forces and means," Putin said.
According to him, the serial production of these systems is increasing, and they will enter service with the Russian strategic missile forces next year. The “Oreshnik” system is considered one of Russia’s most sophisticated weapons, raising concerns for regional and international security.
This step comes within the framework of increasingly close cooperation between Russia and Belarus, while global tensions remain high due to the conflict in Ukraine and ongoing challenges in relations with the West.
