Putin: The US is trying to push Russia into war with Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the US is trying to push Russia into a war with Ukraine. According to him, the US intention is to use the confrontation as a pretext to impose more sanctions on Russia.

According to the BBC , Putin added that the US is ignoring Russia's concerns about NATO's European enlargement.

Earlier, the United States and its allies accused Russia of taking action to invade Ukraine. Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on Russia to withdraw troops stationed on the border with Ukraine. He called on Russia to reduce tensions.

In recent weeks Russia has moved about 100,000 troops, equipped with everything from tanks and artillery to ammunition and air power - to the Ukrainian border. That comes eight years after the country annexed Ukraine's southern Crimean peninsula and backed a bloody insurgency in the eastern Donbas region.

Moscow, for its part, accuses the Ukrainian government of failing to implement an international agreement to restore peace in the east, where at least 14,000 people have been killed and Russian-backed rebels control part of the territory.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned on Tuesday that a Russian invasion "would not be a war between Ukraine and Russia - it would be a war in Europe, a full-scale war."
