On the eve of local elections / Rama promises an increase in the average salary:

Prime Minister Edi Rama appeared before the journalists when we are close to the local elections on May 14. The leader of the Socialist Party promised an increase in the average salary as he said that he intends to achieve the objective of 900 euros.

Rama also said that pensioners will be given 5 thousand new lek plus their pension in April.

"We will talk about a salary increase aimed at raising Albania to the top level of the region within the span of these two years. We intend to achieve a target of an average salary of 900 euros, which means that we are in the conditions of a new opportunity, an opportunity that we will use to the maximum extent possible for people, and after increasing the minimum wage, we can go towards increasing the wage. average."

We will have an increase now soon for a phased part, we will discuss the details after the approval act, for a period of the next 15 years. We will stick to the commitment to increase the salary of doctors and nurses by 7%. Meanwhile, the salary of specialist doctors was increased by 50 thousand new lek every month.

Then we will go to the significant increase. For other categories, we will have other increases. We are in the conditions where we can tell you that we will keep the promise to the pensioners to distribute to them the extraordinary tax that we put on the big energy exporters, as I said before.

Today we have not only the general commitment, but also the concrete information that for pensioners there will be 5 thousand new lek that will go together with the pensions they will receive next time", he said .

Meanwhile, Rama rejected the question of whether this decision is allowed by the electoral code since it is taken shortly before the campaign.

"These are the issues and commitments that were taken from Denbabad and have nothing to do with the electoral code and the elections. For the pensioners who are above everyone and who for a thousand and one reasons have given more than everyone else and from this history of change have received less, it should not occur to anyone to ask this question.

"This for pensioners is an ongoing addressing of a problem as it existed before, that the government is there, in defense of all family members, and small businesses. I cannot tell them that you will wait a few months because they have decided parties, those Chinese things. We respect those Chinese things that we have done ourselves, but it cannot occur to the person who can prevent us from doing this thing for the pensioners," Rama asserted.

Kjo reformë do të impaktojë drejtpërdrejt edhe sektorin privat. Do të hyjmë në një faze ku shteti do të bëhet konkurrent me sektorin privat dhe këtu flas për pagat e larta."

So, the question of; 'What effect is expected to produce in the pension scheme?', Rama replied that:

"Pensions are connected to something completely different, to contributions, and if a country has not ensured in years that contributions are collected and the majority of people have seen contributions as the last thing they should think about, there is no way pensions be high. But we will do our best to make up for a long lost time."
