Berisha: In Albania we will install the list of reimbursement of medicines that

Opposition Leader Sali Berisha accused the government of a severe shortage of medicines in hospitals, especially for patients with serious illnesses, such as those in Oncology, calling this a “crime against humanity.” He promised that if the Democratic Party comes to power, the Italian list of reimbursable medicines will be installed in Albania, guaranteeing equal treatment with Italian patients in terms of medicines.

Berisha : I am a doctor. Even if I were not a doctor, one could never accept leaving hospitals without medicines. These people have crossed every kind of border. Who are they leaving without medicines? The patients of the Oncology Department. They themselves admit that it is a crime against humanity.
Leaving them without medicines, in the grip of a disease such as theirs, is a crime against humanity. Because this has one thing. They themselves never accept responsibility.
Yes, he said, the doctors. The doctors did not do it. Doctors do not make the tender for medicines. The ministry makes the tender for medicines. The hospital directorate does it. But, from the day he said it was a crime against humanity until today, no measures have been taken, because the minister has her dirty hands in the money for medicines.
Now, you tell me. Can a state leave people, members of its society, members of the nation without medicines, because they are expensive? No, it cannot. They are expensive, and they are affordable. They are completely affordable.
We used to buy them. They were expensive, but they couldn't exist. The human mind cannot accept leaving them without medicine there. Those medicines are basic. These remain. Doctors taking the sick on the phone: for two months there is no medicine, for three months the equipment doesn't work. None of the main equipment works there. Why? Just so they can go and pay abroad, to private companies.
Crime! So, it comes out later. They published it themselves two weeks ago. The Institute of Statistics found that Albanians pay 820 million euros a year for health care. We are the nation that eats the most bread in Europe. But, we pay 220 million for bread. We pay 820 million for medicine. Can you guess what kind of fine this is on citizens?
This fine, either they don't have it and don't take it. Those who have it ask children outside, people outside: help me, lend a hand, or sell what they have, etc. on and on. This is over.
We will install in Albania the list of reimbursement of medicines that the Italian Republic has. Absolutely.
Let it cost as much as it wants. Albanians in Albania will have that list.
We are not saying that we will receive the salaries of the Italians, no. But, for medicines, we will be the same as them. We will receive those medicines that they receive in the pharmacy, and medicines that are not sold in two EU member states will never be sold.
Doshi and Nushi are both closed, waxed!
