Berisha challenges Rama: You promised free healthcare, come here and keep it!

Sali Berisha has challenged Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding his unfulfilled promises during his 12 years of government.

'You promised free healthcare, come here and keep it! You are a coward, you are a liar!', said Berisha during his speech to the citizens of the Xhamlliku area in Tirana.

Berisha: Friends, our program is the program of a compassionate heart.

It hurts your heart when you see 760 thousand men and women, elderly, with pensions that they can't make ends meet with, with which they can't buy medicine.

And as a reward, in an extreme callousness, Edi Rama, in the last budget of 8 billion, allocated a total of 16 million euros for these 760 thousand noble Albanians.

A very ridiculous, cynical act.

I guarantee that every pensioner who receives less than 200 euros today will have a minimum pension of 200 euros in the first 100 days of government.

200 euros will be the minimum for every unemployed person, for every person on economic assistance, for every child with a parent, for every student on a scholarship.

Not only that, but all of these people, all pensioners, all people with low salaries, which will never be below 500 euros, will have a consumer card with which they will get back the VAT, which is 450 euros and will continue to increase over the years.

My friends, you are clear, you have heard, today people's health problems have become major problems.

The man who promised Albanians free healthcare, come here Edi Rama, hold them. You are a coward because you are a liar.

Come here, didn't you promise yourself free healthcare?

Did you beat your chest for free healthcare? But what is the truth? Albanians today pay 67 percent of their healthcare expenses out of their own pockets. They pay three times what Italians, three times what Germans, and French people pay.

They pay 820 million euros. They pay four times more than for bread.

This means that they are left without treatment because they do not have this money, or they reach out to others for alms, or they order it from immigration.

Our commitment is solemn: in the first 100 days, Albania establishes the Italian Republic's list of drug reimbursements.

Dear friends, today we are not able to compare ourselves with the economic level and standard of living of Italy, but we will have the same medicines as them. We are able to do this.

This means hundreds of millions of euros will remain in your pockets.

This means that your sons and daughters don't need to buy the medicine for you.

This means longer lives for Albanians, better treatment, and we will do this in the first 100 days.

We will double the health budget.

We will double the budget for education.

The average salary will be 1250 euros and our race to increase salaries and pensions will only stop when we come out on top of all the countries in the region.

No country in the region is as rich as Albania. None.

What are we going to do? We will return your money, we will return your public assets.
