A serious road accident was recorded this afternoon, around 2:35 PM, on the Peqin-Elbasan national highway, in the area known as Vidhas.
According to preliminary information, two vehicles were involved in the accident. The collision resulted in serious injuries to the driver of one of the cars and his wife, who were urgently transported to the nearest hospital to receive the necessary medical assistance.
Sources from the scene indicate that the accident occurred when one of the vehicles, after a stop for fuel supply, attempted to return to the road. During the maneuver, it collided with another vehicle that was moving at high speed in the direction of Elbasan. As a result of the strong collision, both cars went off the road, ending up outside it, one on top of the other.
Traffic Police forces immediately arrived at the scene, secured the area and began investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident. The investigation team is working to determine the causes and the responsibility of the parties involved, as well as to assess whether violations of traffic rules or the lack of signage may have influenced the event.
The health condition of the injured remains unclear, while an official announcement from the hospital authorities is awaited.
This accident adds to the worrying balance of road incidents in the country, where traffic violations and carelessness in maneuvers continue to pose a great risk to the lives of citizens.
