Kosovo Assembly constitution, proposal for secret ballot fails

Kosovo Assembly constitution, proposal for secret ballot fails

The Kosovo Assembly has failed to be constituted again today, even in its ninth attempt.

Unlike previous times, the chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, proposed that the election of the Speaker of the Assembly be held by secret ballot, but even this form did not receive the support of the majority of deputies.

"Considering the Constitutional Court's ruling in 2014, which states that voting can be open, secret or another form. In order to pave the way for unblocking the process with physical ballots," he said.

But MPs from parties that were in opposition during the previous legislature did not agree with this proposal.

The hearing was set to continue on May 3.
