In the May 11th elections, the SP received 34,000 fewer votes than in the 2021 elections, but secured 83 mandates. 

Blendi Çeka from Data Centrum said that the low turnout and the absence of over 200,000 Albanians from the elections favored the SP as the ruling party.

"There are 202 thousand voters missing who logically compared to 2021 did not vote this year and this is proportional for all of Albania. This low turnout is related to the fact that most of them are not physically in Albania."

What reinforces this argument is that the SP has 34 thousand votes less than in 2021 and has received 83 mandates. Even the socialists who are missing are proportional throughout Albania, in Poliçan 700 SP votes are missing that were in 2021. This is very political; there is a high probability that a good part of these 202 thousand are not in Albania.

"This has favored the SP, because at the moment the voting body shrinks, the SP, which is in power, outperforms from an electoral point of view ," said Çeka.
