US President Donald Trump Jr.'s eldest son said on Wednesday he might run for president one day, Reuters reports .
Trump, 47, was asked by a moderator during a panel appearance in Qatar if he would run and "take over" after his father leaves office.
"So the answer is I don't know. Maybe one day, you know, that calling is there. I'll always be very active in terms of being a vocal supporter of these things," he said, referring to the ideals of the "Make America Great Again" movement that his father built.
Donald Trump Jr. has emerged as a political force in his own right. Reuters reported in November that he was the most influential member of the Trump family during the transition as his father built his cabinet and prepared to return to the White House.
The president, who values loyalty, has long relied on family members for political advice.
Don Jr., as the president’s eldest son is known, has helped Cabinet nominees emerge or rise to the forefront — from supporting Vice President J.D. Vance as Trump’s running mate during the election campaign to blocking former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo from joining the Cabinet, the sources said.
