38 people arrested for conspiracy in Venezuela, among them an Albanian

Venezuelan authorities have arrested 38 people on suspicion of involvement in a plot to destabilize the country, just days before regional and legislative elections scheduled for May 25. Among those arrested is an Albanian citizen, Enid Kasmi, who, according to local media, is accused of receiving payments from the United States to commit violent and destabilizing actions.

According to official information, 21 of the detainees are Venezuelan citizens, while 17 others are foreigners, including Ukrainian, Mexican and one Albanian citizen. The news was also confirmed by President Nicolas Maduro himself, who in a public statement issued direct accusations against the "Albanian mafia".

"The Albanian mafia, which rules Ecuador, sent some of its trained mercenaries to plant bombs in Venezuela. The Albanian mafia has been caught, we have them, three phones have been seized from them and they are talking," Maduro declared.
Also, the Minister of the Interior of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, denounced a new attack attempt organized, according to him, by the extremist opposition, with the aim of destabilizing the country and sabotaging the electoral process. Names cited for involvement in the plot include Iván Simonovis, former Armed Forces officer Arturo José Gómez Morante, as well as well-known opposition member María Corina Machado.

During a press conference, security authorities announced that another group of 8 local people was caught in possession of explosive devices, which include so-called "electric detonators".

The event has caused numerous reactions and is expected to affect the political climate of the country as the elections approach. So far, there is no official reaction from the Albanian authorities regarding the arrest of Enid Kasmi.
