Accused of drug trafficking in Italy, the Supreme Court acquits Kreshnik Farruku

The Supreme Court has released Kreshnik Farruku, accused of being the leader of a criminal drug trafficking group, from prison, while Italy requested his extradition.

The panel of judges composed of Ilir Panda, Sokol Binaj and Sandër Simoni has upheld the decision of the Durrës court that imposed the security measure of "house arrest" for extradition purposes to Italy.

He was arrested on the evening of January 11, 2025 in Manzë, Durrës, in cooperation with the Florence Prosecutor's Office with the aim of extradition to Italy by order of SPAK, while the GJKKO had signed the security measure of arrest in prison against him.

Farruk is wanted by Italian authorities on suspicion of drug trafficking. He is accused by Italian justice of trafficking cocaine from Latin America and is considered a dangerous leader of an international cocaine trafficking clan.
