Tabaku: SP seeks to usurp independent institutions

Jorida Tabaku said that the attempt by the government and the ruling majority to 'usurp' independent institutions, the Supreme Audit Office, the Constitutional Court and the Constitutional Court, is not a democratic value.

Invited to Syri TV via a Skype connection, Tabaku said that the socialist majority's threats to 'merge' the Supreme State Audit Office into a Court of Audit are the clearest indicators that Albania needs more independent institutions than ever.

According to her, the SP aims to disrupt the balance of independent institutions, but such an aim will only hinder the country's integration process into the EU.

For the democratic legislator, all this galloping theft by the socialist majority in the public sector is inexplicable, which, according to Tabaku, was also reflected in the May 11 election process.

' I was not able to be at the session of the Supreme Audit Office, with all the shortcomings of an institution that has shed light on a series of government scandals. 12 years of government there has been an abuse, 8 billion euros have been stolen, a year's budget of the Albanian state, a finding by the Supreme Audit Office. It has found in these years that an Albanian budget has disappeared, then concessions, dirty money, etc., are another matter. Last July, the Supreme Audit Office had important findings, what was considered a scandal about the contaminated ice cream and banned by the EU, findings in the oncology hospital.

Here the majority stood up, the entire Economy Committee. They stood up against the SAI. They attacked and attacked it, they even wanted to change the structure of the SAI and its control. The SAI will be dissolved altogether to open a Court of Audit. That yesterday has nothing to do with reality. Albania needs independent institutions more than ever. Where there are more abuses, more control is needed.

The DP has made it clear about the justice system. An analysis of what happened 7 years ago must be done, and a total analysis and review of the fact of the implementation of the reform. What is happening with the Supreme Audit Office, the justice system, is a 'usurpation' of the values of democracy. They want to destroy the institutions and exercise maximum control. If there is a principle of the integration process, in practice it is the establishment of the independence of the institutions. What is happening to the institutions in the last 2-3 days is inconceivable.

The DP needs to see them not only from the point of view of denunciation, from the GJK, the KLSH and the SPAK, not only for international awareness, but also to stop these. From the GJK to the SPAK, the KLSH to be put under control, it is not only about the DP, but about the mechanisms of democracy, the disruption of the balances of a normal state. We need a strategy and to prevent these from happening. The GJK has had decisions against the government, of Xhaçka on the laws on Investigative Commissions, and the government has not implemented them, if we also try to control these that remain, there is a problem here that is related to the wider, to the media, to society that these institutions that have a certain balance are allowed to be usurped.

We are dealing with the denunciation of the elections and an analysis. The DP needs to see these processes calmly, and a way forward.

Inexplicable things happen here that logic doesn't even understand. I was in the counting process in Greece and saw a trend of 99% of the diaspora vote for the SP, and I can't give an answer. Theft in Albania is rampant, theft in the public sector and that has affected the electoral process.
