Florence, two Albanians arrested with 23 kg of cocaine

Italian police in Florence have arrested two Albanian citizens, a 25-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, after seizing over 23 kilograms of cocaine and a sum of 11,450 euros. They are accused of possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute.

The operation was finalized after a detailed investigation and pursuit by anti-drug officers. The police positioned themselves near the 38-year-old woman's apartment, where they observed a man who, after parking his car, entered the apartment in a suspicious manner. After a few minutes, he came out with a bag, which he placed in the vehicle, while carefully looking around.

It was precisely the suspicious behavior that prompted the police to intervene immediately. During the search of the bag, six parallelepiped-shaped packages were discovered, wrapped in blue plastic and marked with the number “357.” Subsequent analysis confirmed that the substance was cocaine.

At the same time, the woman arrived at the scene and attempted to flee at high speed, but was stopped by officers after a short chase. During the search of the apartment, police found additional packages of cocaine, similar to those in the car, hidden in a bag inside a closet. Also, in a safe hidden behind a painting, the amount of 11,450 euros was found, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking.

In total, around 23 kg of cocaine, divided into 20 "loaves", were seized, while the two arrested were sent to the Sollicciano prison, awaiting the decision on the preliminary security measure. The authorities emphasize that the criminal responsibility of the suspects will be assessed during the judicial process.
