Berat Prosecution seeks 6 years in prison for pedophile who molested a minor

The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Berat has requested a 6-year prison sentence for a citizen accused of sexual harassment of a minor. The incident occurred on November 25, 2024, when the victim, a minor boy, filed a police report after a repeated attempt to forcefully pull him over and demand intimate relations.

According to the forensic report, the minor suffered physical injuries caused by a strong restraint device. He managed to escape after notifying his father by phone, who immediately intervened at the scene.

The investigation also revealed that the perpetrator, identified as RO, used obscene and degrading language while attempting to force the minor into sexual acts. In his testimony, the victim claimed that he noticed he was being followed and tried to run away, but was forcibly stopped.

The prosecution has stated that there is sufficient evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant committed the criminal offense of "Sexual Harassment" against a minor, as provided for in Article 108/a/2 of the Criminal Code. It also appears that the defendant is a person with a criminal record, previously convicted for the same offense.

At the conclusion of the trial, the prosecution requests a guilty plea for RO and his sentence of 6 years in prison.
