"A Minister of Justice shouldn't sleep at night!", Manja debates with analyst: Communist mentality!

Minister of Justice Ulsi Manja has been involved in a debate with analyst Artan Hoxha regarding "stock" files in the courts.

Excerpt from the debate in Opinion: 

Ulsi Manja: At the end of 2026, the vacancies will be filled.

Artan Hoxha: So in 2026 we will be where we were in 2015. The files have gone up to 200 thousand, the question is how will they be cleaned then? How will it be done?

Ulsi Manja: There are legal measures that we will have in Parliament very soon.

Artan Hoxha: So, we will enter Europe sooner than we will reduce 200 thousand files. Why don't we delegate the matter to the European Court and relax?! We don't have a judiciary in Albania...

Ulsi Manja: Excuse me, are you saying that an organized crime case should be pursued with "house arrest"?!

Artan Hoxha: It's a matter of culture and structure because this justice system is set up to achieve the success of the merit of handcuffs, before the evidence is found.

Then, regarding the fact that Albania has a very high number of people in detention. The analyst addressed the minister, telling him that he must “undo a primitive balance” related to the way justice institutions operate. For Manja, this is a communist mentality.

Artan Hoxha: How can the Minister of Justice sit around when his country is the only country in Europe, I don't know in the world, that has twice as many prisoners in pre-trial detention?! A Minister of Justice shouldn't sleep at night! You say that I have nothing to do with it because justice is independent. You have to move everything to move this inquisitorial culture and not justice.

Ulsi Manja: I am calm that as long as the new justice system respects the procedural deadlines according to the Criminal Procedure Code, I am calm. I do not interfere with justice.

Artan Hoxha: Let the people know that the minister doesn't care about changing this primitive balance.

Ulsi Manja: Your mentality is communist!!

Artan Hoxha: No way! This is communist justice and you shouldn't sleep and change it!

Ulsi Manja: Because we are in the time of Saliu, who kept judges and prosecutors in the anteroom. The standards have been set by justice.
