A 37-year-old man has been arrested by Tirana police in Astir, after being caught with a firearm in a bag he was carrying.

According to the police, 37-year-old David Simoni, a resident of Lezha, previously convicted of theft, was arrested.

"During the operation, in Astir, the Police services caught citizen DS red-handed while moving on foot, with 1 firearm, a pistol with a cartridge in the holster, which he was carrying in his bag," the police announced.

Tirana DVP/The police operation codenamed "Trigger" is finalized.

Armed with a pistol, with a cartridge in the chamber, the 37-year-old was caught red-handed in Astir and put in handcuffs.

The pistol is seized.

The services of Police Commissariat No. 6, in continuation of their work to identify and crack down on cases of illegal possession of weapons, based on information obtained through police intelligence, regarding a citizen who was traveling armed, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Trigger".

During the operation, in Astir, the Police services caught citizen DS red-handed while moving on foot, with 1 firearm, a pistol with a cartridge in the chamber, which he was carrying in his bag.

Following the actions, the pistol was seized and citizen DS, 37 years old, resident of Lezha, previously convicted of theft, was arrested.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action, for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized Possession and Production of Weapons, Explosive Weapons and Ammunition".
