The Ambassador of the European Union, Silvio Gonzato, held a meeting with the head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, at the premises of the Central Election Commission.

After the meeting, Gonzato spoke to the media and said that the EU supports the electoral process in Albania, but has no interventionist role.

"I do not make statements before the elections. We trust the ODIHR and it has an important mission here. The fight against organized crime and corruption is at the heart of the negotiations. SPAK has an important task. The EU is here to support Albania, not to interfere in the processes. We are not here to manipulate anything," Gonzato declared.
