"I read it with great sadness", Jorida Tabaku tells the factors that influenced the result of May 14 for the opposition

Jorida Tabaku commented on the results of the elections on May 14, where she mentioned several factors that influenced the deep defeat of the opposition. The deputy of the Democratic Party was invited to the show "Kjo Javë" on Neës24 and said that one of the main reasons that influenced this result is the division of the Democratic Party and the internal battles that they have had for about 1 and a half years.

Excerpts from the studio discussion:

Nisida Tufa:  How did you read the election results?

Jorida Tabaku:  With great sadness, I was one of the first to react. I said that for this result we must see for ourselves and understand why DP has the same appearance on the map as in a pair of elections that we did not participate at all. I believe that everyone has seen with sadness and a sense of responsibility what we must do so that this does not happen again in 2025 and we do not repeat the mistakes of the past.

Nisida Tufa:  Shkodra, what happened? Why was the vote not preserved?

Jorida Tabaku:  There are many reasons, in Shkodra in general. In a year and a half of debate, PD has been damaged a lot. The language used towards each other is not alternative.

There was also a lack of alternatives that brought us to this result. It was the language that stopped us from having a union and coming up with a single candidate. Shkodra was a special case because there was no candidate from the other side.

We should see it as a refusal to vote for the opposition alternative.

Nisida Tufa:  Where did the DP leadership go wrong in these elections?

Jorida Tabaku:  300,000 Albanians, or 25 MPs less, is the result in 2021. Rejection by a part of society that, due to the chaos and noise made for 1 and a half years and the lack of an alternative, did not give us confidence.

We focused on the opposition not the ideas. We have also left space on the ground. Thirdly, I think that our part of the opposition made maximum efforts to have common candidates in the field.

However, I believe that PD can change Albania, for what it represents. PD is there, it is alive. DP officially had uncertainty about decision-making as to how the elections would go, more than 100,000 votes were received, which shows that the Democrats are there and we must rise again.

We must open DP. We need to move from the constant deadlock of talking about ourselves and each other, we need to talk about people who are in trouble and are leaving.
