Beleri in the European Parliament: Justice reform turned into a totalitarian bomb
Fredi Beleri gave his first speech as a MEP in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
He said that in the EP he is like the Greek MEP of the minority, coming from an EU member country, but born in a state that aspires to the European family, but is constantly moving away from its principles.
"It is with great emotion that I turn for the first time to our European Parliament, an institution whose determination was shown when I got out of prison, where I stayed for 16 months. Today, I am here as a minority Greek MEP, coming from an EU member state but born in a country that aspires to join the European family. But, unfortunately, this country is constantly moving away from the European acquis, instead of getting closer to it," said Beleri, adding that "the current situation in Albania shows how reforms can easily turn into "totalitarian bombs" for the foundations of a democratic state", Beleri said.
