"I shot him from behind, three times"/ Artan Tafani confesses to the
The testimony of Artan Tafani, a justice collaborator in the case against Laert Haxhiu's criminal group, continued today at the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC). During the hearing, Tafani recounted in detail the moment of Çajup Selim's execution, an event that took place in Tepelena.

According to his testimony, the assassination took place at the entrance of the building where the victim lived. "After I arrived at the building where Çajupi lived, I stood near the entrance. I heard a car that looked like his, a Benz. We were face to face. I was wearing a COVID mask and a hat. He looked at me suspiciously," Tafani said.

He further explained the moment of the attack: "He entered the entrance and started climbing the stairs, to the first floor and then the second. I followed him from behind. He was bald and I knew him well, even what he was wearing – a red T-shirt. I shot him from behind, three times. Once in the shoulder and two more times – I'm not sure where the bullets hit him."

After the crime, Tafani ran away from the scene towards Bënça Prison. He says that during his escape he encountered difficulties, but managed to keep the weapon with which he committed the murder.

“I fell into some brambles outside the city. I still had my gun with me – a small Beretta, with a silencer. I was looking for the path that would take me to the Vjosa River, where, according to the plan, Ligori would be waiting for me,” he said.

Tafani's full testimony is expected to be used by the Prosecution to shed light on the activities of the criminal group led by Laert Haxhiu and its connection to other murders that occurred in recent years.
