Extraditions from Dubai, Duman "raises his hands": The matter belongs

The United Arab Emirates continues to remain a "refuge" for Albanian criminals, who escape to Dubai to escape punishment. This is because Albania does not have an extradition agreement with the United Arab Emirates.

For Klan TV, Altin Dumani, the head of the Special Prosecutor's Office, said that it is up to the government, specifically the Ministry of Justice, to deal with the issue of extraditions from Dubai. According to Duman, SPAK has so far addressed 4 requests for extradition that are being reviewed by the Arab authorities.

"The Special Prosecutor's Office has transmitted to the Ministry of Justice four requests for the extradition of Albanian citizens from the United Arab Emirates, which are still in the process of consideration by the Arab authorities. Extradition from the United Arab Emirates is not only a problem for Albania, but also for all other countries of the European Union and beyond. I have addressed this problem in the report, it is up to the other authorities to follow up ," Dumani said.

SPAK received the first refusal for the extradition of Plaurent Dervishaj in 2020, who has two processes opened in the Special Court as a participant and organizer in various assassinations.

While a year later, the request for Florenc Çapjen, already sentenced to life imprisonment, had the same fate.
