The Supreme Judicial Council dismisses judge Mimoza Margjeka

The High Judicial Council has dismissed judge Mimoza Margjeka. The HCJ accepted the request of the High Inspector of Justice for disciplinary proceedings with the measure "Dismissal from office", for disciplinary violations.

"The irregular exercise of duty by the magistrate, as well as the very nature of the criminal offense, has brought consequences for the delivery of justice, has seriously discredited the image, authority, dignity and has seriously damaged the public's trust in the magistrate and the bodies of justice, all very serious disciplinary violations for which ILD requested the measure of dismissal from office, which was accepted by the High Judicial Council" , the decision states.

On December 12, 2023, the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime upheld the sentences for Judge Mimoza Margjeka, accused of corruption, her husband and three other accused.

Mimoza Margjeka, who at the time she was detained, in September 2020, was in command at the Court of Appeal Korçë, allegedly received 6 thousand euros through her husband Arben Cara to ease the security measure of a person detained in Pogradec.

This amount of money was given in order to change the security measure, from "prison arrest" to "property guarantee", for the citizen Orion Bali, arrested for smuggling.
