Italian media: The Albanian government gives the "green light" to the

The Albanian government has given the green light to the water pipeline that will connect Gjirokastra with Galugnano, in Salento.

This is what the Italian media L'Economia writes , as it refers to the statement made by the president of the Puglia region.

"The Albanian government has authorized us to start planning the water pipeline that will connect Albania with Italy. Albania throws a large amount of good water into the sea and obviously has an interest in being paid for the water. We are interested in taking it because for us water means to give a new model to agriculture, to make tourism grow and to give a future to all the people of Puglia", declared the president of the region of Puglia, Michele Emiliano . during a press conference in Bari.

It would take 4 years of work and one billion resources to build the infrastructure, to be financed using the resources of the EIB itself, the EBRD, the Italian state, the region and the Apulian waterworks. The goal is to transport 150 million cubic meters of water to Puglia every year.

For Apulia, it is a strategic infrastructure, given the drought that has characterized the last few years. But Albania would also have an economic return, given that around 8,000 new direct and indirect jobs would be created.
