Rama's warning about electricity, the head of Konfindustri: Scenario to

The head of Konfindustria, Gjergj Buxhuku, commented on Prime Minister Edi Rama's warning about the increase in the price of electricity.

In a live Skype connection to News24, Buxhuku spoke against the Prime Minister's statements and said that it could be a scenario to cover the salary increase of the state administration.

" The fact is that raising the price of energy again in these conditions is something worth worrying about. The surprise is that it was thrown at a moment that given the dramatic drop in electricity prices worldwide and the production of energy from our capacities has been good, it sounded unexpected and serious.

In 2021, Albania produced over 6% more electricity than the country's needs. I can say that in the first three months of this year, only from public companies the production was higher. And this is only 50% of the country's total production.

There is a lack of transparency. The problem is that purchases are not made through the stock exchange. Closed transactions are preferred rather than open transactions. The government should be open to do in-depth analysis to say that we don't have problems with electricity. Such a thing has not happened.

There is no doubt that the economy has serious structural problems. I would be happy if wage increases came from the growth of the economy. The Albanian economy has serious problems. We raise wages and at the same time put on the table the idea of increasing electricity prices. It can also be to compensate for the increase in salaries of the state administration.

The reaction belongs to all citizens and institutions. Businesses will be hit hard. The analyzes show that Albania should be at a favorable moment to discuss the price reduction and not the increase ," said Buxhuku.
