Water quality is deteriorating on the beaches, the points with the highest pollution from South to North

The monitoring of sea waters on the country's beaches has highlighted the deterioration of the condition in most of them.

The National Environment Agency, in the annual report published a few days ago, listed more beaches that have deteriorated in water quality than beaches that have improved. From South to North, the number of beaches with excellent water quality has decreased.

According to the data, the number of stations of category A – Very good quality, for the monitored beaches for the year 2023 is lower compared to the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

"The number of stations of category B - Good quality - for the year 2023 is higher compared to the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The number of stations of category C – Sufficient quality for the year 2023 is higher compared to the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The number of stations of category D - Bad quality for the year 2023 is higher compared to the years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022", the report states.

The same report underlines that the main factor of pollution of coastal bathing waters remains the discharge of untreated urban waters into receiving coastal waters directly and indirectly, which cause pollution of these waters.

But what are the beaches and the findings of the KMA report on them from North to South?

Velipojë

In Velipoja beach for the year 2023, the number of stations belonging to Category A - Excellent water quality is lower than in previous years.

The number of stations of category B- Good water quality and category C- Sufficient quality for 2023 is higher than previous years. So we have a tendency to decrease the quality of water, passing from excellent quality to good quality.

Shengjini and Tale

For the year 2023, it turns out that we have no stations that belong to Category A - Excellent water quality, compared to previous years. The number of stations of category D - Bad water quality for the year 2023 is high.

For Tale Beach in 2023, the number of stations of Category B - good quality and sufficient quality has increased. We have no A-category stations - excellent quality. It is estimated that there is a tendency to decrease the quality of water compared to previous years, passing from excellent quality to sufficient quality.

The beaches of Durres and Lalez Bay

The beaches of Durrës for the year 2023, according to the bacteriological results, are assessed as: category B Good quality for 7 monitoring points, category C- Sufficient quality for 3 monitoring points, and category D- Bad quality for 11 monitoring points.

Numri stacioneve të kategorisë B – Cilësia e mirë e ujërave për vitin 2023 është më i lartë në krahasim me 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 dhe më i ulët se vitet 2021, 2022.

Për plazhin e Lalzit në periudhën 2020-2022, të gjitha stacionet i përkasin Kategorisë A- Cilësi e shkëlqyer e ujërave, pa ngarkesa mikrobike. Kurse për vitin 2023 kemi uljen e numrit të stacioneve të kategorisë A- Cilësi e shkëlqyer dhe rritjen e stacioneve të kategorisë B- Cilësi e mirë.

Plazhi i Kavajës (Golem)

Numri stacioneve të kategorisë D- Cilësia keqe/ Masa të menjëhershme, për vitin 2023 është më i lartë në krahasim me vitet e mëparshme. Vihet re tendencë në ulje e cilësisë të ujërave duke kaluar nga cilësi e shkëlqyer dhe e mirë (2022) në cilësi të mirë dhe të keqe (2023).

Plazhi i Qerretit

Shihet një përkeqësim i cilësisë të ujërave krahasuar me vitet e mëparshme, duke kaluar nga cilësi e shkëlqyer në cilësi të keqe.

Plazhi i Spillesë

Gjatë vitit 2023 vihet re një ulje e cilësisë. Ujërat janë të kategorisë D- Cilësi e keqe/ Masa të menjëhershme në krahasim me vitin 2022, ku plazhet ishin të kategorisë A- Cilësi e shkëlqyer e ujërave.

Plazhet e Semanit dhe i Divjakës

Për vitin 2023 ka një ulje të kategorisë A-cilësi e shkëlqyer të ujërave, në krahasim me tre vitet 2020, 2021, 2022 ku të gjitha pikat e monitorimit të analizuara, vlerësohen të Kategorisë A Cilësi e shkëlqyer e ujërave.

Plazhet e Divjakës gjatë vitit 2023 rezultojnë të kenë ulje e cilësisë së ujërave në krahasim me vitet e mëparshme, të cilat i përkisnin kategorisë A Cilësi e shkëlqyer në të gjitha stacionet e monitorimit.

Plazhet e Zvërnecit, Vlorës dhe Orikumi

Në Zvërnec kemi një përmirësim të dukshëm të cilësisë gjatë viteve 2022-2023, ku të gjitha stacionet janë të kategorisë A- Cilësi e shkëlqyer e ujërave krahasuar me vitin 2021.

Për vitin 2023, kemi tendencë në ulje të stacioneve që i përkasin kategorisë A – Cilësi e shkëlqyer. Numri i stacioneve të kategorisë C- Cilësisë së mjaftueshme të ujërave dhe i kategorisë D Cilësisë së keqe të ujërave, ka tendencë në rritje krahasuar me vitin 2022. Kjo tregon përkeqësim të cilësisë të ujërave.

Plazhet e Palasës, Drimadhes, Dhërmiut, Jalit, Livadhes,

Plazhi i Palasës për periudhën 2020-2023 ka cilësi të shkëlqyer të ujërave. Të gjitha stacionet i përkasin kategorisë ACilësi e shkëlqyer e ujërave.

Për plazhin e Dhërmiut për vitin 2023, numri i stacioneve që i përket kategorisë A- Cilësi e shkëlqyer e ujërave është më të ulët se në vitet e kaluara. Numri i stacioneve të kategorisë B- Cilësi e mirë, (33.3%) është më të lartë se vitet e kaluara.

Plazhet e Jalit, gjatë periudhës 2020 – 2023, i përkasin kategorisë A Cilësi e shkëlqyer e ujërave.

The beaches of Livadhe during the 2021-2023 monitoring period belong to Category A - Excellent quality. The waters are free of microbial loads.

Qeparoi beach

For the year 2023, we have no stations that belong to category A Excellent water quality. This shows a decreasing trend in water quality, passing from excellent quality (2020-2022) to good quality (2023).

Borshit beach

For the beach of Borshi for the year 2022 and 2023, the water quality belongs to the category A-Excellent quality 100%, without microbial loads compared to the year 2021, where 33% of the stations belonged to good quality.

Lukova beach

For the period 2020-2023, it is estimated that Lukova Beach belongs to category A - Excellent water quality.

Saranda beach

For 2023, we have an increase in stations belonging to category A - Excellent quality compared to 2022. The number of stations of category D - Poor quality/Immediate measures, for 2023 are lower compared to 2022.

 

The number of stations of category B- Good water quality are higher compared to the period 2016-2020 and lower compared to the years 2021 and 2022. We have a tendency to decrease water quality for the last three years (2021- 2023) compared to previous years.

Ksamil Beach

For the year 2023, the waters of category A – Excellent quality are decreasing compared to the period 2020 – 2022. We have no stations of category D – Poor quality/Immediate measures, for the year 2023.

This shows an improvement in the situation compared to 2022 where 33% of the stations belonged to this category./Monitor
