Rama announced that it will close, TikTok reacts: The 2 teenagers did not have

The social network company TikTok has reacted to Prime Minister Edi Rama's decision to ban this platform in Albania, starting next year, after the fight between teenagers near the "Fan Noli" school, where 14-year-old Martin Cani lost his life.

In a response to the Associated Press, the TikTok company said it wanted "urgent clarification from the Albanian government on the case of the teenager killed with a knife."

According to the AP, the company said it had "found no evidence that the perpetrator or victim had a TikTok account, and multiple reports have in fact confirmed that the videos leading up to this incident were posted on another platform, not TikTok."

We recall that the decision was announced by the head of government today. Rama emphasized that during the year of application of the measure, it will be seen how other countries act and whether filters will be placed on the social network.

"It is much stronger, much more influential, much more attractive that neighborhood street urchin who has it on his phone called TikTok. TikTok is the neighborhood street urchin, that we are afraid of when the child is accompanied by it when he leaves the house. We will close TikTok for 1 year. We have done our research in terms of technology, it will take us 6-8 weeks starting from the beginning of next year and in 1 year we will completely close it for everyone. TikTok will not exist in the Republic of Albania. Then and during that year we will see how other countries will act, what technology will come out for filters, etc., how TikTok will react," said Rama.

The decision came after a month of consultations between education officials and parents. The TikTok shutdown is expected to be accompanied by the installation of cameras in and around schools, new rules on cell phones during school hours, a doubling of school security officers, and stronger coordination between them and the state police.
