Request rejected, Ilir Beqaj remains in prison

The Special Court has rejected the request of former Minister Ilir Beqaj to replace the security measure "prison arrest" in connection with the investigations into the SASPAC file.

The lawyer for the former Minister of Health, also the former director of SASPAC, requested a replacement measure with the argument that the defendant has not yet been taken into custody by SPAK and that there is no risk of him leaving the country, given that Beqaj has been cooperative.

Ilir Beqaj was arrested on July 4, 2024, by order of SPAK, as part of investigations into the abuse of SASPAC funds.
