The Tirana Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigation related to the salary publication scandal.

The file was sent for trial against 4 defendants, two of them on charges of "Abuse of Duty" and two others for "Active Corruption". 

A list of personal data of 637,183 Albanian citizens was distributed through the application "Whatsapp" in December last year, marking the largest flow of official data in our country.

The database contained personal numbers, names, employers and the monthly salary of all persons registered as employed in the public and private sector in Albania.

The published data belong to the salary of January 2021, 4 months before the general parliamentary elections.

Notice:

The Prosecution at the Court of First Instance Tirana completes the investigation for the publication on social networks on 22.12.2021, through the application "WhatsApp", the payroll of January 2021 of employees in state and private institutions.

This data was first disseminated through the WhatsApp application and then published in the media. The data is easily accessible by any citizen.

At the end of the investigation, the Prosecution sent the case for trial against the defendants: 

  1. Eni Qirjako,
    Accused of committing the criminal offense of "Abuse of duty", committed in collaboration provided by Article 248 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
  2. Andi Agaraj,
    Accused of the criminal offense of "Abuse of duty" committed in collaboration provided by Article 248 and 25 of the Criminal Code, "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions" provided by Article 259 of the Criminal Code.
  3. Klodian Sota,
    Accused of committing the criminal offense "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions", "Passive corruption in the private sector" provided by Articles 164 / be 244 of the Criminal Code.
  4. Endri Ikonomi,
    Accused of committing the criminal offense "Active corruption in the private sector" provided by Article 164 / he K.penal
