'Open list' votes, CEC: If there is a discrepancy, criminal liability

The Central Election Commission has reacted to concerns about the counting of votes on the "open list".

The CEC, in a reaction, states that the moments of the vote counting were recorded on video and in case of any discrepancy, the responsible commissioner and the teller will be held criminally liable.

"Given some concerns about the integrity of the counting and evaluation of preferential votes, I assure you that the CEC has taken all organizational, human and technical measures to prevent the 'trafficking' of votes for the 'open list' candidates of any entity."

The CEC has recorded and has video footage of the vote counting and evaluation process for political parties and coalitions.

"If, in the process of counting and evaluating votes for candidates on the 'open list', discrepancies are found between what results in the video footage and what will result in the process of evaluating votes for the candidate, then the counters or commissioners responsible for this case will be held criminally liable for a serious violation of electoral integrity ," the CEC writes.
