Tensions in Kosovo, the German ambassador calls the mayors of 4 municipalities

The American ambassador, Jeff Hovenier, has invited the newly elected mayors of four municipalities in the north of Kosovo to a meeting.

The call for a meeting comes after the resumption of tensions in the north, where KFOR has increased its presence after the gathering of Serbian citizens outside the municipal buildings.

The chairman of Zveçan, Ilir Peci, who has indicated that the meeting will be held in Pristina starting at 09:00. It is learned that the ambassadors of the QUINT countries will also be at the meeting.

The embassies of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union have issued a joint statement expressing their concerns, as they strongly condemn the forced entry into municipal buildings in the north of Kosovo.

The countries demand that the government of Kosovo "not undertake any new measures to force entry into the municipal buildings in Leposaviq, Zubin Potok and Zveçan".
