A status of Suzana Skënderi Starikov, an Albanian translator in Germany, caused a stir in the Albanian media yesterday, after she wrote that Prime Minister Edi Rama will be appointed the new NATO Secretary General, instead of Jens Stoltenberg.

"Edi Rama will succeed Jens Stoltenberg in the post of NATO Secretary General. In particular, it is said that the US has insisted on the election of the next NATO Secretary General among the new NATO members. The candidates were Prime Minister Katja Kalas and Prime Minister Edi Rama. Who will be the next prime minister? ” , wrote Starikov.

Hours after the post, she clarifies that it was a joke about April 1st, the day of the lies.

" I was just joking, it was a joke about April 1, nothing more. I'm sorry I disappointed you! I do not apologize as it is your fault that you publish news without verifying facts regardless of the day of the liars today " - she writes.

Asked by Politiko.al why she chose to 'use' Edi Rama's name for such a joke, she explains that there were once rumors about this case, but adds that his candidacy seemed unreal to be believed.

"Simply because you are free to decide what you want when you make a joke on April 1, and because I thought people would fall prey to it. There used to be rumors about that. On the other hand, his candidacy seems unreal to me, so I thought "People would enjoy my jokes more," Starikov told Politiko .
