Safet's masturbation, Ed's hand

Safet's masturbation, Ed's hand

Alfred Lela

Ironically, Safet Gjic's last two actions have the word hand at the core of their content. He masturbated with one while wiping his nose with the other, and hours later, he signed the resignation with one of them. It can be said that the hand took Gjici down, not in the narrow sense of the word, but in a much broader sense. In the sense that the word hand in Albanian is used to denote a bunch of people who unite in something, 'our hand-our kind,' 'we are our hand,' etc.—meaning similarity and connection, which can be ideological, spiritual, clan, etc.

Safet Gjici is part of Prime Minister Rama's "our selective hand" in the government. It is not correct, not anymore at least, that the Prime Minister comes out unscathed from the fall of those he chooses. Let's not lie: it is not the structure, i.e., the Socialist Party - the desolate one that only accepts the Rama's chosen ones as the child takes the mother's tit - that goes for this brand of the chairman's favorites. In this sense, the game of Rama, who plays Pontius Pilate and washes his hands of the 'execution' of close collaborators, is a masturbation, the shot of which falls on that same table that we call the sphere of public debate.

If Gjici resigns, Rama cannot be considered without fault. When his chosen ones, in the central or local administration, fall one by one, in numbers so significant in quantity, it all speaks, at least a little, even about the one that does the choosing. He who picks the meat with which the salami is made cannot say that the salami that comes out has nothing to do with him.

There is no need to enumerate names because you all know them, with mayors, MPs, ministers, and senior directors. All this string of publicly dishonored people have two things in common: they are - handpicked - chosen by Rama, and yes, they were handed over to the public guillotine by Rama. After the dishonor, Rama came out and said he had no business with them. He said some of the warmest things when he crowned them in office. Of course, we cannot accuse him of having a hand in their corruption, or that the fingers on Gjic's masturbating hand were his. But, hand on heart, we can doubt him about the philosophy of the selections, his and the governance. Rama, whether he wants it or not, whether the socialists accept it or not, is helping the SP with power, and at the same time, he is building a wall of shame for them. People may ask: how is it possible that this hand of Rama's rulers is mostly incriminated? I know Rama already produced the answer, but it proves a half-truth which is even more harmful than an outright lie. The Prime Minister claims that the unworthy are caught and punished in our government. That may be so, but the state is broader and more profound than the mechanical law; it is also the soul and the spirit of it.

Does the amount of dishonored prove that the quality (that is, the spirit or philosophy) of Rama's government is ruining the soul of the state and statehood while it claims to be freeing it from evil?

Everyone here answers according to logic and interest. But what is so apparent, interest cannot hide, and logic declares, is that Rama's chosen ones have a problem. And, whether we like it or not, when the one who elects them grabs, in the sack of the SP and society, these people erected by greed (financial or sexual), we can say: the hand also has a problem.
