Director Chris Columbus explains why a sequel to "Mrs. Doubtfire" is

Chris Columbus, the famous director of Robin Williams and Sally Field's classic film, "Mrs. Doubtfire," has shown why the film has never had a sequel.

While speaking with "SF Gate" at the "SF Film Awards", Columbus, 63, discussed the award-winning film, which was shot and filmed in San Francisco, as well as his friendship with the late Williams, who died in in 2014. He was 63 years old.

"It's impossible. It's just impossible," Columbus said of anyone else who played one of Williams's most iconic roles in his career.

"I'm just reading a lot of comments, ironically, today and on the Broadway show [which opened in New York this week]. And this guy who is playing him [Rob McClure] is supposed to be very energetic and phenomenal. But he's not "is Robin. Robin was special in his kind."

Columbus said he and Williams were very close throughout the years. "We became very good friends," Columbus said. "... We spent every weekend together, going to comic shops and hanging out."

More than a decade after the film premiered, Columbus said he and Williams had begun thinking about a sequel to the beloved family film, but they had given up on the script they had originally created.

Robin ishte i përgatitur ta bënte atë.

"Robin was everything you would have hoped he would be, and he was very open and honest with me about his problems with anxiety and depression," Jakub said. "I was able to share with him that anxiety was something I struggled with and he talked to me about mental health issues in a way that 14-year-olds are not usually taught that adults are really open to these kinds of experiences. personal with them ”.
