Albanian PM responds to inquiries about why he has not traveled to Belarus to

Albanian Prime Minister Rama posted on Twitter today a response to questions on why he has not traveled to Belarus in his capacity as the OSCE’s Chairperson.

“Some high flying eagles of Albanian politics are worried about why I have not gone to Minks already and that I have caused Albania to lose a chance! The OSCE does not go to Minsk to take selfies in a protest, but to communicate with the government and the opposition, which requires the approval of both parties. I am proud of the fact that, regardless of the cursed pandemic time, our OSCE leadership has successfully done its promised work and has earned international respect and trust, which is clearly demonstrated by the European Union’s (EU) reference to the OSCE offer to Minsk.

We have not made public the frequent communications we have had these days with high-level EU actors and not only, because this is the nature of the work at this phase. But I want to ensure everyone interested in this topic that Albania is really doing its best, alongside Sweden,” Rama wrote.
