American Diplomat: Merkel Blocked Agreement between Vucic and Thaci

Presidents of Serbia and Kosovo, Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci, respectively, have reached the agreement but Germany discarded it, James Hooper, an experienced balkanologist and former highly ranked American diplomat, said on Saturday for Voice of America (VoA).

He said that French President Emmanuel Macron that would arrive in Belgrade on Monday now had a boy scout assignment to determine possibilities for restarting the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo.

Hooper said that “Serbian and Kosovo leaders have reached a concept that referred to the delimitation of the border, which also included a relatively small exchange of territories, but Europeans did not accept this”.
