Appellate Court dismisses criminal charges against DP Chair on U.S. lobbying

The Court of Appeals ruled on Thursday to uphold the lower court’s ruling on dismissing the criminal charges against Democratic Party (DP) Chair Lulzim Basha. The ruling was made based on the fact that Tirana Prosecutors, who had challenged the first-instance court’s ruling on this case, did not submit fresh pieces of evidence to substantiate their falsification of documents charges.

The case involves Basha and two other DP officials – Arben Ristani and Ilir Dervishi – regarding the lobbying activities in the United States.
