Blair attended the to meeting Pompeo-Vucic, Al Jazeera Balkans reports

The correspondent of Al Jazeera Balkans in New York said in his report of the talks between Pompeo and Vucic that the meeting was also attended by former British prime minister Tony Blair.

Predicably, public service Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) failed to report on this; private pro-regime media outlets stayed mum about it too. Province of Vojvodina’ public service, Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV), however, posted the news on its website.

TV N1 on Wednesday tried to obtain confirmation of this information and find out in what capacity Blair attended the meeting, but Vucic’s media officer Suzana Vasiljevic did not reply to the inquiries of this station.

The leader of the opposition People’s Party Vuk Jeremic also posed the same question to Vucic on his Twitter profile whether this information was true.

“If this is true, in what capacity - your personal advisor or friend? Advisor of the government of Serbia? Thank you in advance for your reply”, Jeremic wrote.

“If Blair had really attended the meeting, this means that Blair and Vucic are exceptionally close associates and that the politics represented by Vucic at that meeting is such that one might have Blair as member of the delegation while you are uttering such things, but that is not in line with Serbia’s official state policy, which to my knowledge, hasn’t changed”, Jeremic said.

Blair has been a detested figure in Serbia for the past twenty years, because as then British PM he was one of the main supporters of military intervention during the almost three-month NATO bombing campaign in the spring of 1999, against the then rump Yugoslavia.
