Brnabic: Serbia Could Be “One of the Winners” of 4th Industrial

Serbia could be “one of the winners” of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Tuesday.

At a panel discussion within the Kopaonik Business Forum at Mt. Kopaonik, Brnabic said that the changes which the world was going through with digitalization were a major chance for small countries such as Serbia, which “can adapt more quickly”.

“In the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the smaller ones can become leaders”, she said.

The fact that Serbia had before been later in industrial revolutions can now serve to its advantage, she added.

In the last three years, Serbia has done a lot on the plan of digitalization by introducing a broadband network, the introduction of e-management, the setting in motion of the Datacenter and the beginning of building a state data center in Kragujevac, Brnabic said.

“We have a full infrastructure prepared for the digitalization era, and as for the broadband network, about 60% of Serbia’s territory is covered by that network. By the end of March, we shall announce an invite for the covering of 30% of the broadband network. We shall focus on 19,000 households and I hope that we shall succeed in this”, she said.
