Charges Filed against 6 People for the Assassination of Ivanovic, Arrest Warrant

The Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office indicted six people charged with involvement in the murder of SDP Civic Initiative leader Oliver Ivanovic and suspected of organizing a criminal group.

These are Nedeljko Spasojevic, Marko Rosic, members of the Kosovo police Dragisa Markovic and Zarko Jovanovic, former homicide department head Rade Basara and Ivanovic’s secretary, Silvana Arsovic.

Spasojevic and Rosic have been in custody since the arrest back in November last year, Basara since October this year, while others remain at large pending a verdict.

Although it has been speculated that the deputy leader of the Serb List, Milan Radoicic, whose arrest was attempted in late November 2018, as well as his associates Zvonko Veselinovic and Milan Mihailovic, are under the investigation of the Kosovo prosecutors’ office, they are not included in this indictment.

According to a Kosovo prosecutor’s office, the three indictees are at large and international warrants have been issued for them.

Ivanovic was assassinated on January 16, 2018, in front of the entrance to his party office in Kosovska Mitrovica.

The indictment charges the defendants with organizing a criminal group, misusing official position or authority, assisting in a serious assassination, unauthorized possession of weapons, disclosing an official secret and destroying evidence.

It is also stated that the alleged criminal group has been operating since 2011 and aimed at expanding control of the business and political influence in northern Kosovska Mitrovica.
