The EU will continue efforts to bring Kosovo closer to Serbia through dialogue. The EU is ready to organize a high-level meeting between the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Serbian president, Aleksandër Vucic, but says that the conditions for such a step must be created first.

"Of course, we are always ready to host a high-level meeting within the dialogue between Prime Minister Kurti and President Vucic, when the conditions are created, and when both of them agree on something like this. But, at this stage, the most important thing is to lower the tensions on the ground and take concrete steps. And precisely for this reason, we launched the special envoy of Miroslav Lajčak. He, after the stops in Pristina and Belgrade, will report to the High Representative, Josep Borrell, and the latter will notify the member countries, to decide on the next steps", said the spokesperson of the EU, Peter Stano.

The next visit of Lajcak and the American envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, to Kosovo today and to Serbia tomorrow, is aimed precisely at de-escalating the situation on the ground.

"They are going to continue working on the implementation of European and American appeals for Kosovo and Serbia to immediately reduce tensions and take measures for sustainable solutions. And the platform for this sustainable solution is anyway in the dialogue facilitated by the EU" , said Stano.
