Russian authorities said the southern Russian region of Belgorod on the border with Ukraine was attacked by drones and Ukrainian artillery on Friday, hours after two drones struck a Russian town in an area near the annexed Crimean peninsula.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials claimed that Moscow's military forces struck a building in the city of Dnipro, in central Ukraine, where a medical clinic was located, killing two people and injuring 30 others, including two children.

Video released by regional governor Serhiy Lysak showed the fire engulfing the three-story building that appeared to be nearly destroyed, with only part of the wall remaining, as firefighters battled the blaze.

Also, the British Ministry of Defense confirmed in its daily announcement on Ukraine, that "it is likely that the forces of the Wagner Group have begun to withdraw from some of their positions around the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region."

Likewise, the start of the withdrawal of the Wanger group from Bakhmuti was confirmed by the Defense and National Security Adviser of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, during an interview with the British BBC network.

Among other things, the senior Ukrainian official said that he felt completely calm about the reports that Russia had started deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.

He added that Ukraine is preparing to launch the long-awaited counter-offensive against Russia, but did not give a time frame.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in his daily address on Friday that Ukraine is making "substantial progress in securing modern fighter jets".

He claimed that the process of modernization of the Ukrainian defense is "moving at a faster pace" than was predicted six months ago./VOA
