Trump makes history by returning to the White House

Donald Trump will again be the president of the United States of America.

With victory in the Nov. 5 election, Trump overcame divisions within the Republican Party, legal challenges from his first term in 2017-2021, and an assassination attempt.

During this period he also faced changes in the Democratic Party, when the outgoing president, Joe Biden, was replaced by vice president Kamala Harris as the candidate.

At 78, Trump is the oldest president to win a US presidential election, surpassing Biden, who was 77 when he defeated him four years ago.

When he is sworn in on January 20, Trump will become the first US president to serve as the 45th and 47th president of the United States.

He is also the first president to face two impeachment trials and also the first to be convicted of a crime.

Ahead of the start of his second term, he continues to face two pending criminal cases — one related to alleged efforts to obstruct Biden's peaceful takeover and the other to meddling in the 2020 election in the state of Georgia. Meanwhile, another criminal case, related to the illegal storage of classified documents, was dismissed in July.

Despite these challenges, Trump brought a wealth of experience and a strong base of supporters to his fourth presidential campaign.

Many of his followers continued to support his refusal to accept the election loss to Biden, his harsh rhetoric against political opponents, and claims that his legal troubles were part of a "witch hunt" directed against him.

Trump also led polls of voters on which candidate was more credible to handle sensitive issues such as immigration and the high costs of housing and food.

He was seen as the most suitable candidate to rebuild America, which he repeatedly described as overrun with illegal immigrants.

In his 2016 campaign, Trump won voters' support with promises to "make America great again," create better trade deals and increase the U.S. military budget as part of efforts to restore respect for the USA in the international arena.

As a leader who has proven himself on the global stage, Trump was seen by voters in the seven decisive states for determining the outcome of the election, as well as the most suitable candidate to lead the country amid conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

This is closely related to the decisions made by Trump during his first term, when he unilaterally withdrew the United States from the nuclear deal with Iran and initiated a trade war with China, the main economic rival of the US.

He also withdrew the country from several international agreements that he considered unfavorable to American interests and pressured NATO allies to increase defense budgets, a demand that most allies complied with.

In one of the most talked-about deals, the Trump administration reached a pact with the Taliban, setting conditions for the full withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan by 2021, which Trump's opponents saw as opening the way for the Taliban to retake it. the power.

On the other hand, Trump accused Biden and Harris of mismanaging the situation in relations between Russia and Ukraine, which, according to him, strengthened Russia in its intentions to invade Ukraine.

During his first term, Trump sought to change Washington's relationship with Russia, seeking improved relations with President Vladimir Putin while simultaneously imposing punitive sanctions on Moscow.

In this spirit, Trump has declared that his relationship with Putin will contribute to ending Russia's war against Ukraine./ REL
