A tragic accident occurred today in the ski resort of Astun, Spain, where a cable car collapsed, leaving 17 people injured. According to authorities, one woman is in critical condition and was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital.

Rescue operations led by the Spanish Civil Protection are underway, with a total of four helicopters mobilized to transport the injured and ensure evacuation from the area.

Footage from the scene shows damage to one of the cable cars, which is suspected to have caused the accident. As a result, the ski resort, which was packed with visitors, has been closed.

Shocked by the incident, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said he had spoken to the governor of the Aragon region to coordinate the necessary assistance from the central government. "Our priority is the safety and health of the injured," Sánchez stressed.

Authorities are investigating the causes of the accident, while the situation remains tense at the resort.
