Two officers are killed in France after the attack on a prison van, the convict

At least two French prison officers were killed and others wounded after an attack on a prison van carrying an escaped prisoner, a police source told Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti, who oversees the prison's administration, said two agents were killed and three others were seriously injured.

Hundreds of members of the security forces were deployed to find the attackers and the prisoners, who were still at large.

The prisoner was being transported between the towns of Rouen and Evreux in Normandy. A police source said that the attack was carried out by a team of several people who arrived in two vehicles and then left. One of them was also injured, a police source said. It was not immediately clear how many attackers there were in total.
