Rama declares "peace" with TikTok? Now he's asking for filters

After attempts to block the social network TikTok in Albania, Prime Minister Edi Rama seems to have changed his approach. Even though seven days have passed since AKEP's order to cut off access to TikTok, the platform is still functioning, and the Prime Minister has revealed that negotiations are underway with the company to install security filters.

In his column "Sy m'Sy", Rama responded to a commentator who accused him of censorship and attempts to control social networks. The head of government said that his goal is not the final closure of the platform, but the establishment of some special filters to guarantee "child safety", minimize bullying, integrate the Albanian language and promote educational content on science and entertainment.

" It's not crazy, but the healthiest thing that can be done. It's not that we've closed TikTok once and for all, but we're closing it gradually. We're working with the company and waiting for a plan for the filters that will be put in place ," Rama said.

We recall that last Saturday, the opposition held a protest in Tirana against the closure of TikTok, describing this act as an attempt to censor free speech.
