"Gjinushi and Tole, products of the parliamentary coup" Zhupa: They can no longer lead the Academy of Sciences when they are illegitimate

On Monday evening, the Constitutional Court, in an equal split of votes, failed to declare the law on the Academy of Sciences in accordance with the constitution.

The Chairwoman of the Education Committee, Ina Zhupa, who has followed this issue since the beginning, has reacted by demanding that the law be restored to its previous state by the majority or it will be the Democratic Party that will change it as soon as it takes office.

Zhupa also calls on academics to demand the resignation of Gjinushi-Tole "to no longer obey the decisions and orders of a presidency where the president and vice president have not received constitutional legitimacy."

The Constitutional Court, with its decision dated 10.02.2025, refused to accept as in accordance with the constitution the law that declared Skënder Gjinushi, the former minister of the dictatorship, to be imprisoned for life.

The court was unable to vote this law as constitutional and in accordance with the assembly's rules of procedure, clearly showing that the opposition was right.

The Constitutional Court has delegitimized the election of the presidency, the president and vice president Gjinushi and Tole. They are the products of a parliamentary coup that even the Constitutional Court could not deny took place.

The judiciary could not do more under political pressure, but left this law illegitimate with no public interest and in violation of the constitution.

This is a shame for the assembly's coup plotters, for the majority, for Petro Koci and Ismet Beqirajna, and for the records of parliamentarism.

A serious majority should restore the law to its previous state without the requested changes, but they lack the courage. After the elections, the majority led by the DP will immediately undo the unconstitutional changes to the Academy of Sciences law.

Skënder Gjinushi and Vasil Tole must resign because they can no longer lead the Academy of Sciences when they are illegitimate and the products of a coup, and not even the constitutional court opposed this.

I very much hope that the body of academics and scientific researchers will no longer obey the decisions and orders of a presidency where the president and vice president have not received constitutional legitimacy.
