DP takes the Rama-Meloni agreement on refugees to the Constitutional Court

The Democratic Party has submitted today to the Constitutional Court a lawsuit regarding the refugee agreement, signed by Prime Minister Edi Rama and his counterpart, Giorgia Meloni.

According to the said agreement, two camps will be built for the stay of refugees, in Shengjin and Gjader. It is expected that at least 30 thousand refugees will arrive in Albania and will be stopped by the Italian authorities.

In an appearance for the media, Lindita Metaliaj stated that this is an illegal agreement.

"We submitted the lawsuit for this agreement, as we are protecting the interests of the citizens. It cannot decide the fate of our country in violation of human rights. We are grateful to the Italian people, but this has nothing to do with them. We will wait for the decision of the Constitutional Court and whether or not this agreement is compatible with the Constitution of Albania" , said Metaliaj.
